Oak Pointe Tuesday Night Men's League – SUPER SKINS Announcement

Golfers,

I had an idea for a “Super” Skins game – an optional pool for the full season for anyone that might be interested in a side game.  Cost for entry is equivalent to $1.00 per week – $20 - payable before the start of the season.  The idea is to take each player’s best 4 NET scores for each hole (all 18 of them) from league rounds played, add them together for that player’s Super Skin hole score and then pay out skins for lowest scores on each hole.  In addition, 10% of the pool would go to the player who has the lowest 18-hole cumulative score using his single best net scores for each hole played during the season (subject to the restrictions indicated below).  PLEASE REPLY IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE.

Super Skins Rules

  1. Cost for entry is $20 – payable before the start of the season.  No refunds will be provided.
  2. Late entries will be accepted but rounds played prior to paying the entry fee cannot be used for skins calculations.
  3. Each player’s four (4) lowest net scores for each hole in league play will be added together in order to calculate individual hole scores to be used for the Super Skins game.
  4. OPCC Tuesday Night Men’s League handicaps and net scores as determined in league play will be used to determine the net scores used for Super Skins.
  5. Only the first ten (10) Men’s League rounds played on each of the front and back nines can be used in determining the low scores that can be used for the Super Skins.  Scores for holes in the eleventh and subsequent rounds played on either the front or back nine holes cannot be used.
  6. Prize Payouts
    1. SINGLE LOW NET - 10% of the prize pool will be paid out to the player who has the lowest 18-hole cumulative score using his single lowest net score for each of the 18 holes.   Ties will be broken using the hole-handicaps to determine a winner (comparing scores starting on the most difficult hole).
      1. Players must play at least one round on each of the front and back nines in order to qualify.
    2. SUPER SKINS – 90% of the prize pool will be used to pay for skins based on the sum of each player’s four (4) best scores on each hole as detailed above. In the unlikely event that there are no skins at the end of the season, the tiebreaker will be a cumulative Super Skins score for the 18 holes.  A secondary tiebreaker would then be to use the hole-handicaps to determine a winner (comparing Super Skins scores starting at the most difficult hole).
      1. Players must play at least four (4) rounds in league play on the front nine to be eligible for Super Skins on holes 1-9.
      2. Players must play at least four (4) rounds in league play on the back nine to be eligible for Super Skins on holes 10-18.

Depending on the interest level, this could make for a pretty large pot.  I have no idea how many skins could be expected.

I would appreciate a reply if you are interested in participating.  I will add your name to a list of players who are in the Super Skins pool and I can collect from you later (I will try to have Greg Rohkohl collect for this on Tuesday).

See you all on Tuesday!!

Regards,
Keith Schrock

Invitation to Join the Oak Pointe Country Club Tuesday Night Men's League

The Tuesday Night Men's League is open to members of the Honors or Championship Course of Oak Pointe Country Club.  This league provides a great opportunity to meet other members, enjoy some excellent golf and some camaraderie as we get together for food and refreshments afterwards in the Men’s Grill.  The league plays on Tuesday nights (starting April 12th this year) with a shotgun start on the Championship Course at either 5:30 or 5:45pm (depending on the time of year).  It is not necessary that you show up each week.

Dues are $100, payable to the “Oak Pointe Men’s League”.  The dues are used to fund league prize payouts and an end-of-the season banquet for league members.  The season is divided into two halves, each consisting of approximately ten weeks of play. Play is individual – there are no teams.  Points are awarded and accumulated for net pars or better.

Foursomes are not pre-arranged – you can golf with whomever you like.  One of the league’s objectives is to meet other Club members and therefore a mixing of foursomes is strongly encouraged.  You can simply ask the cart staff to put you on a cart to play either the front or back nine. The goal is for everyone to play both nines an equal number of times during each half.

Cash prizes are awarded to the top forty players and ties for each half.  Points and position do not carry-over from one-half to the next.  Everyone starts new in the second half.  In addition, there are optional prize pools that are collected each week for payouts on closest-to-the-pins, long drive, fewest putts, net skins and gross skins.

We will also have a couple of “fun nights” with a different format during the season.  If you have any ideas that you’d like to suggest, please share them with me.

The OPCC Golf Handicap Committee continues to stress score posting and handicap determination.  We will again be using the GAM - Golf Association of Michigan - handicap system which will allow you to post your scores on-line.  Therefore, we are again playing USGA rules and I am expecting everyone to post their own nine hole score each week.
